SAVE WILLIAMSTOWN
Political Lobbying by Developers & Investors
It is well known that with large scale projects developers, development promoters and investors engage with Politicians and lobby for their projects to proceed. Public officials and elected councillors and politicians must document their meetings, actions, phone calls and this provides important verification of involvement with lobbyists.
We will need people willing to make “freedom of information” requests which can determine the appropriateness of lobbying activity and indicate where decisions have been compromised by inappropriate lobbying. We also need lawyers who can interpret responses to Freedom of Information requests.

WE MUST HAVE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN PLANNING....
The cultural and historical significance of Williamstown should not be underestimated, it starts long before the settlement of 1835 with the people of the Kulin Nations inhabiting the Point Gellibrand Peninsula for many centuries. The new arrivals of 1835 came from Tasmania by sea and chose the sheltered natural harbour to land and build their town, King William’s Town, later becoming Williamstown. Many early public buildings and homes still grace the town and the maritime and shipbuilding industries still remain after nearly two centuries.
